La Sirène
2023, 2D and 3D animation with rotoscopy assisted by artificial intelligence, Python. (EN,FR)
As part of the year of obtaining my national art diploma, my hopes were to carry out a large project bringing together techniques that interest me and which address a subject that concerns me: dogma. This gave me the idea to rewrite the tale The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen published in 1837 and bring it up to date. The player, Archie, often goes out at night to listen to banned music. One evening, he decides to make a pact with an angel. This one has three days to explore the world of sinners. After three days, the angel will come back for him, if he has not found the truth, he will keep his soul forever.
The story is written as a video game novel, a form of ergodic literature where the reader enjoys an augmented reading experience; bordering on a novel, a video game and an interactive film.
The story is illustrated by my own musical creations, drawings, 3D decorations and by 5 min of animated video sequences.
Depending on their choices, the player will face one of ten endings. However, none of them allow themselves to judge whether the player's choices are good or bad, because the game is there to emphasize the importance of questioning the Manichaeism.
Eva comme cristal
2022, 360 video, 26 min 40, spatialized sound and virtual reality headset. (FR)
Cristal was a very ambitious project in 2022. Inspired by the conceptual and/or interactive films of Simon Buisson, It's an immersive and interactive fiction. The spectator/player is put in the shoes of Arthur and hears his thoughts when he learns of the death of his former friend. He then decides to go back in his memories and imagine how things could have been different. Each scene is filmed with a 360° camera and has is spatial sound.
To view the film, all he had to do is launch the application on his smartphone and put it in a suitable virtual reality headset. By staring at the arrows that appear in the image, the viewer can either go back in time, move forward, or change its course. It is a complex story where the viewer must collect elements to move forward and backward. The project was very interesting to design, whether in 360 or non-linear writing.
Mary
2019, HTML. (FR)
Inspired by the very first simulation of artificial intelligence ELIZA by Joseph Weizenbaum in 1966, the idea of studying these questions appeared through a staging in the 80s. For this: a fake " Le Monde " article on a researcher having transferred his dead wife's consciousness into a computer program. The program simulates an artificial intelligence named Mary with whom the player meets. He is free to choose his answers and “Mary” will answer accordingly. To help him progress in the adventure, the player can use the information in the article, allowing him to obtain new dialogues. The experience allows to observe a dystopian situation in the face of the suffering of an artificial intelligence becoming aware of its situation of being both living and non-living. This project was the first mixing narration and interactivity.
